INTRODUCTION:
Learning Exchange has a
combined experience of more than 20 years in driver and operator
training. During that period we have successfully delivered
accredited transport training programmes to many well known and
respected companies. We work as a fully BBBEE compliant training
partner, facilitating comprehensive driver and plant operator
training through specially designed and customised learning and
development courses.
We believe our experience
has given us unique insights into needs within the industry.
ACCREDITATION:
Learning Exchange holds
full accreditation with Transport Seta (TETA) and provisional
accreditation with Construction SETA.
TRAINING TO REDUCE
RISK AND INCREASE PROFIT:
The Skills Development Act,
Basic Conditions of Employment Act and OSH Act place strict
responsibility on employers pertaining to safety in the workplace.
Without focused training for employees, companies face potentially
catastrophic liabilities and financial risks.
Improving skills levels
also creates the platform for substantial savings in accident and
repair costs as well as the costs of downtime and running
insurance costs. Learning Exchange provides a cost effective
solution.
THE COMPANY:
The Company is managed by a
Board of Directors consisting of a Managing Director and two full
time Operations Directors. Our staff consists of qualified
skills development practitioners, accountants, administrative
support staff and project managers. Together we manage and assist
a team of more than 30 qualified accredited trainers on different
projects. We also employ registered moderators who ensure
the highest quality standards are maintained throughout the
training process. Extensive use is made of customised IT
systems to support the seamless delivery of training.
Learning Exchange operates from its head office in Ruimsig,
Gauteng and project offices nationally.
THE TRAINING MODEL:
Specialised on-site
training programmes are offered to improve overall skill levels of
drivers. We understand that time is money so we offer short
courses, skills programmes or learnerships that are customised to
suit your specific requirements. Training can be conducted
on-the-job, on site or at our facility based at Apex, Benoni where
accommodation for learners is available.
All training is accredited
and uses an integrated approach including a combination of
classroom theory, simulated and live training. Our experienced,
registered assessors are committed to assisting your drivers and
operators to achieve benchmarked performance requirements through
integrated training interventions.
We adopt a flexible
“training partner” approach in order to give you cost effective
training that meets your business needs.

Professional Driver and Earthmoving Plant Operator training
solutions to the freight transport, mining, construction and
commuter transport industries and be recognized as the best

clients needs are met in the most comprehensive and cost effective
manner, in so doing to create a profitable business that retains
and develops high quality staff members.

aspect of our business dealings
LOGISTICAL CAPABILITY:
We have training support
offices in Durban, Cape Town, Pretoria, East Rand and Ruimsig
(West Rand).
Learning Exchange has an
advanced Internet based scheduling system which enables us to
manage and control the logistics and challenges which exist in
large scale training projects. This system can be accessed
at all times by project managers and coordinators.
An advanced electronic
Administrative Support and Learner Management System (LMS) is
utilised to record driver and learner progress and achievements,
reporting on all aspects of Learner enrollment, administration and
support services.
LEARNER SUPPORT STRUCTURES:
In order to make a
meaningful contribution to the lives of learners, especially the
previously unemployed, Learning Exchange has partnered with
various companies who assist in the placement of newly qualified
learners in the labour market, specifically road transport
services and mining sectors. This is our commitment to
reducing unemployment and increasing skill levels in the industry.
There is currently a huge
shortage of drivers in the transport sector in South Africa. This
shortage is projected to deteriorate should a drastic intervention
in driver skills training not be implemented. This places the
newly qualified drivers in a good position to obtain jobs in the
transport sector through our placement structures.
PROJECTS PRESENT AND FUTURE:
Putco Training
Programme:
The scope of the 18-month
Putco training project extended to all drivers in the
organization; current drivers for refresher training, newly
recruited drivers on a 4-month advanced driver training programme
or the training of unemployed learner drivers on a customised
Learnership programme. In total more than 1600 drivers were
successfully trained during this programme.
